  • The Harlem School of the Arts does not sell or rent our mailing lists.
  • The Harlem School of the Arts does not share your personal information with anyone.
  • On occasion, when The Harlem School of the Arts participates in collaborative programming, we will do targeted mailings (from our facility and with the HSA return address) on behalf of the collaborating organization as it relates to the specific program or project. In such cases, the collaborating organization does not have access to your information.
  • The Personnel Policies Manual and Faculty Handbook of The Harlem School of the Arts, which governs the conduct of all of our staff and faculty, requires that all employees of HSA abide by and safeguard the information of our supporters and participants.

Safety and Security
The Harlem School of the Arts is a safe place for your children to learn and grow. To ensure the safety of our students, please adhere to the following procedures and instruct your children to follow HSA’s Code of Conduct.

Students 12 and Younger

  • All students 12 years old and younger must be accompanied to HSA by a parent/guardian. The child must be picked up by an authorized adult
immediately after class. A fee of $15 per half-hour will be imposed for late pick-up beginning fifteen minutes after the end of class.
  • All students 12 years old and younger who have free time between classes must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or authorized adult during their free time.
  • Every parent/guardian must complete and return a Student Information form at registration indicating the names and contact information for adults authorized to pick up students. Authorized adults listed on this form must show identification to HSA staff when signing the student in and out.

Students 12 and Younger

  • Parents/guardians of students older than 12 must provide written authorization allowing their child(ren) to leave HSA unaccompanied by an adult.

Addressing Safety and Security Concerns

  • Please notify the Security Officer on duty immediately
in the event of any safety or security concerns.
Personal Property and Art Work
  • Please label your students’ property and art work. Unclaimed property will be held in the Lost and Found, located at the Front Desk, for 90 days. After 90 days, items will be discarded or donated to charity.
  • We encourage you to refrain from sending your child(ren) to HSA with valuables such as MP3 players, handheld video games, jewelry, etc.
Student Behavior Guidelines

HSA maintains high standards of student behavior. Running, rough play, and inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
HSA reserves the right to dismiss any student whose behavior is deemed in violation of HSA policy.

  • No eating or drinking is allowed in classrooms, studios,
    corridors or the Gathering Space.
  • No gum chewing is allowed in the building.
  • Sitting in the corridors or standing in the stairwell areas is not allowed at any time. Blocking these areas is a fire hazard. Anyone waiting for students must wait in the Gathering Space.
  • Students, parents or visitors are not allowed in the Faculty Lounge at any time.
  • Students are not allowed in the Courtyard without adult supervision.
  • The Gathering Space stage is off limits at all times.
  • Students are not allowed in the theater, dance studios or classrooms without a teacher present.
  • Anyone remaining in the building is expected to leave HSA at least 15 minutes before the school closes. This includes all students, parents, visitors, faculty, staff and volunteers.
