College Prep

In the past three years, over 95% of HSA College Prep graduates have been accepted to post-secondary institutions. This highly competitive professional training program is open to students ages 12-18 with tracks in dance, music, theater and the visual arts. The College Prep program prepares students in the technical and performance skills necessary to compete for post-secondary study and career development. Admission is by audition or portfolio review, and includes an interview with parent/guardian and with the prospective student. College Prep requires a high level of commitment from the student and parent.

College Prep students must maintain a B average in their academic courses, and HSA faculty complete quarterly evaluations to measure students' artistic growth, class participation, attendance, behavior and academic performance. College Prep students have numerous performance and exhibition opportunities. At the end of each program year, students participate in a formal interview to discuss their accomplishments, goals for the coming year and provide suggestions for improving the program. College Prep students are supported by HSA staff and faculty as they prepare their college applications, portfolios and audition tapes.
