Marketing & PR Manager
Reporting directly to the Director of Development and Communication, the Manager, Marketing & PR develops a comprehensive strategy to enhance HSA’s branding, communicate and raise the awareness of the public, selected audiences, and other external constituencies, about the programs and community outreach of the Harlem School of the Arts. Works closely with the Program Directors, and Manager of Rentals and Adult Programs to develop strategies and implement plans to achieve HSA’s targeted marketing and public relations goals.
This includes initiating and managing the marketing and public relations activities of the organization, expanding the reach and impact of the content of all publications, newsletters, pamphlets, OpEd pieces, public speeches, videos, books, press releases, direct mail and advertising. Develops broad messaging strategies for print, broadcast, and on-line media (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.), including those that are cross-cultural and multi-lingual.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a marketing/advertising/media strategy
- Coordinate marketing/advertising/media programs
- Manage the efforts of an outside agency and/or inside
public relations/marketing/media team
- Initiate, develop, coordinate, and distribute communications materials, literature, online resources, videos, programs and press releases
- Create and manage organizational master media archive and directory
- Manage media campaigns to promote all of the HSA websites
- Lead and manage the development of collateral material and presentations
- Create and administer the Marketing Department’s annual operating budget
- Develop, implement and manage the marketing, advertising and media performance measurements
- Prepare Annual Report on HSA activities
- Prepare bi-weekly marketing/media reports to Senior Staff, Major Donors and Board of Directors
- Develop, plan and participate in marketing and media networking events
- Develop and promote collaborative relationships with selected organizations and co-manage joint projects
Required Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in developing effective marketing and communications strategies
- Demonstrated ability to build, motivate and work within a team to accomplish organizational and project goals
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of marketing and design software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
- Strong online marketing skills
- Excellent "face-to-face' marketing/selling/media skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Self-starter who takes initiative and is able to work independently
- Commitment to the goals and values of HSA
Education
- BA required or comparable experience
- Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish/French a plus

Bursar
The Harlem School of the Arts, Inc. a community-based arts school that provides quality arts instruction in four disciplines (music, dance, theatre, and visual arts), in the historic Hamilton Heights section of West Harlem, is seeking a Bursar to manage the registration process for its school and summer camp.
Reporting to the Business Manager, and working closely with the Registrar, Director of Finance, and President and CEO, develops deferred payment plans, criteria for referral to collections, and the review and decision-making process for delinquent accounts. The Bursar processes HSA student, adult, and summer camp registration payments, generating various cash, delinquent accounts, and registration status reports as requested. HSA is an equal opportunity employer.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years experience as a school administrator working closely with parents, students and staff in admissions and/or registration. A quick learner, the candidate will be extremely well-organized, detail oriented, customer service focused, enjoy being a part of a team, and work well under pressure. They will have demonstrated proficiencies using Microsoft Office Suite, MindBody, and database maintenance using Education Edge, Blackbaud, and Raisers Edge, and be able to work Tuesday–Fridays 10AM to 6PM and Saturdays 9AM to 5PM.

Volunteers
HSA has an immediate need for volunteers to help with:
- Events at the school – ushers, coat checking, bartenders, servers, hall monitors and crowd control helpers
- Community outreach – street fairs and concerts
- General administrative office work (e.g., receptionist, filing, collating, taking attendance for classes, database entry and updating, photocopying, etc.).
Some of the Volunteer Responsibilities at HSA:
- Greet the public at events
- Act as an usher at various events at the school or other venues
- Hand out and/or collect programs/information/forms
- Check coats during an event and/or activity at the school and other venues
- Staff the buffet tables during events and/or activities
- Clear tables and chairs during events and/or activities
- Collect tickets at events and/or activities
- Give tours of the school
- Help refresh the school’s facility by painting, sorting items for disposal/storage, moving furniture
- Help set-up equipment in the theater or school for events and/or activities
- Perform general office duties, filing, data-entry, collating, printing, compiling lists
General Hours Needed
Monday through Friday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Some weekends and evenings
Qualifications & Knowledge
Volunteers must:
- Enjoy working with the public
- Be able to comply with a dress code when requested
- Be punctual, reliable, and able to communicate clearly and in a timely manner
- Bilingual (e.g., Spanish, French), capability a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint & Excel), a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, and/or Education Edge
- Ability to work weekends (e.g., Saturdays and Sundays) and some weekday evenings a plus
- Volunteers working with children will be required to undergo a background check
